» Austria and Greece join the European Business Council
for Africa and the Mediterranean [EBCAM]



During EBCAM´s Plenary meeting held in Brussels on March 6th was approved the membership of the Austrian Association for Business and Development and the Hellenic African Chamber of Commerce and Development.

ELO´s presidency continue the talks with the Swiss Southern Africa Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of the Finnish Industries for their eventual future joining to EBCAM.

During the Plenary meeting was also decided to send an EBCAM on African issues message to the G8 meeting to be held in Germany on June 6th to 8th. This message should take the form of a letter to the German Chancellor.

The Senior Economist of the OECD Development Centre, Mr. Andrea Goldstein, made a presentation about “the rise of China and India: what is in it for Africa” and Mr. Bram Schim van der Loeff from the European Investment Bank presented the Investment Facility [Cotonou Agreement] and the Bank programmes to the Mediterranean region.
